Travel back in time and step into a lush, exotic garden, where you're greeted with one big, colorful peacock perched proudly amongst the flowers. This iconic vintage full size chenille bedspread features a rare single perched peacock design, from the late 1930s to early 40s.This is not a reproduction chenille bedspread, it is an authentic collector's piece from a bygone era. If you're familiar with the infamous Peacock Alley down south and related memorabilia, this unique design was sometimes featured in advertising items such as postcards and brochures promoting the local wares. And if you're old enough to remember (or have a vivid imagination), you'll recall spreads like this one flapping in the wind along that famed Highway, dazzling passerby with its memorable design.
Full size, approx 88"W x 100"L. Shown on a high twin bed. Want to see it staged on a full or queen bed? Ask anytime. An excellent example of a true American made vintage bedspread, in a very lightweight pastel yellow background (100% cotton), heavily tufted with the central motif. An elaborate floral design graces the pillow area.
Condition: In very good pre-loved antique condition. Please do remember that because it's an antique textile, the groundcloth has thinned, and there are some pinholes and minor age marks (see final img). Even still, I think it is in remarkable condition given that it is approaching 90 years old. All vintage linens will show some evidence of age/previous life, such as minor color variations, skipped tufts, pinholes and/or small repairs, etc.
