ABOUT THIS PRODUCT
What a magnificent piece of American textile history: this antique chenille bedspread reflects an era that emphasized excellence in heirloom-quality handiwork that was made to last many generations. The bedspread was tufted by hand in the late 1930s or very early 1940s. It is markedly different in both presentation and construction than the later spreads you might be familiar with.A pair of stately snow white peacocks gaze towards each other, set on a rich wine background. The fabric is a lightweight 100% vintage cotton, like a sheet. All tufting is also cotton. Study the craftsmanship of this bedspread, and you'll notice the peacock tail feathers feature a multi-dimensional appearance courtesy of two heights of pops that were tufted to offer a more realistic appearance.
