Hi beauties…this vintage, handcrafted chenille bathrobe is so much fun…fabulous single peacock with amazingly gorgeous tail feathers graces the front panel…but the really awesome part is the rear panel, featuring a rare atomic 50s sparkler chenille design from England…sleeve fabric was sourced from another terrific bedspread with a thick, canvas-like groundcloth…front panel features a simple contrast linear design to coordinate with the peacock…
My most favorite robe designs incorporate both British & American textiles, and this robe features some really special fabrics…the peacock section is from a late 1940s era 100% cotton spread, not a later era blend repro…the upper section of the rear panel is lined on the inside with chenille matching the sleeves to keep you extra toasty.
In terms of color, the peacock is a rose quartz, with perhaps a hint of coral in the right light…in fact the contrast front panel still has an original overshot factory dye mark (seen final img) which tends toward a bit of warm coral tone…the rear panel is a wonderful shade of British carnation pink, covered in vibrant sparklers spanning from snow white and lemon yellow to cool aqua…note that there are two small old repairs to the sparkler panel, so you’ll want to pass if seeking perfect.

All of our handcrafted chenille robes are designed to tell a story using one-of-a-kind textiles from long ago. As such, we incorporate natural age distressing and other “flaws” intentionally into the finished piece and do not specifically make note of them.
Rest assured, we select only premium quality fabrics in good to excellent vintage condition to use in our designs. Virtually all the chenille we work with is 100% cotton or less commonly, a softer cotton blend.
