{FULL SIZE} This is the type of bedspread most people think of when they hear the word “chenille.” Striking burgundy-mauve rose floral clusters accented with jadeite greenery wrapping around showy rounded blocks give this a quilt type look.
We have this same spread in another rare colorway, and I always like to share a little history on this particular style, original to the 1940s era: these types of bedspreads were commonly depicted on advertising postcards and other promotional items that showcased various chenille products to tourists way back when. They could oft be found flapping in the wind on clotheslines along the roadsides that showcased the fancy spreads to passerby.
This bedspread is in very good vintage condition having a few small repairs near the central blocked motifs, and some scattered small fabric separations, the most prominent seen at center top. (note final img) Otherwise the 100% cotton fabric remains remarkably strong for its age.
