Antique Chenille Short Robe / Vintage Lounging Jacket in Rose Florals, XS, for Display or Study

Please note, this is a very early antique chenille lounging shorty robe in true vintage/original condition with weakening to groundcloth. This makes it best suitable for collectors as a display piece or designers, for study/upcycling.

These were seen in the late 1930s and early 40s era, when this style was worn over pajamas, sort of like a bed jacket, but with more glamour due to a bit longer length than most bed jackets were, and a more fitted silhouette.

This coverup is especially unique because the very delicate groundcloth is an old rose calico print in soft yellow tones, tufted over with creamy white chenille.

I can’t stress enough how delicate the groundcloth is – it is the oldest piece we have in our collection. Because of this, it is unsuitable for wear as a regular garment, and better used as display or for study. There are several areas of fabric separation/small holes such as seen final image. A special piece of history from so very long ago…
